Students are expected to train in a ‘real work‘ environment and as such, they’ll need to be working in an existing dental practice role. It’s recommended that students are in the practice for a minimum of 16 hours per week and the remainder of the time is spent in the class room learning theory-based subjects.
Students can also expect regular clinical assessments in their place of work by our highly experienced dental assessors. This is followed by two multiple choice exams (50 questions in each) along with regular short assignments.
Training encompasses a wide range of subjects over 17 modules focusing on core areas such as:
- Chair side support during operations and tooth extractions
- Maintaining surgical equipment
- Patient record keeping
- Understanding the roles, responsibilities, and ethics of being a dental nurse
- Communication skills with both patients and the dental practice team
