National Carers Week – Celebrating Amazing Carers!

It’s National Carers Week this week. There are some phenomenal people working in the care industry and we think they are all superstars!

59 year-old former police sergeant Keith Aldritt is a great example of someone with a real passion for providing high quality care. He retrained as a carer after retiring from a 30 year career in the police force. He has completed his NVQ level 2 with Acacia Training and is now studying his level 3 with us.

Keith thoroughly enjoys his job as a domiciliary carer with Home Instead Senior Care in Newcastle-under-Lyme, providing care and companionship to people in their own homes. Keith was named Home Instead’s Carer of the year last year – beating 8,000 other employees to the title.

As part of his caring role, Keith creates ‘life journals’ using his detective skills to research historical information about his clients’ lives and taking his clients back to visit places that were important in their lives.

What a great idea! Well done Keith, we’re so proud to have you as one of our learners!
